What makes the G63 different?
Most luxury SUVs try to hide their size. The G-Class has done the opposite since 1979, when production started in Graz, Austria, where Magna Steyr still builds it, and the shape has barely changed since.
The G63’s engine is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 hand-assembled at AMG in Affalterbach under the “One Man, One Engine” rule: one technician builds each engine and signs a plate on it. Underneath, the G-Class keeps three fully locking differentials, which few passenger cars have. In Dubai traffic you won’t need them, but you feel the engineering everywhere, down to the heavy, mechanical clunk of the doors.
What is the G-Wagon like as a passenger?
Honest answer: impressive, and less practical than it looks. Plan around these points.
- You climb up into it. The step-in is high, so in heels or a long dress, take the chauffeur’s hand.
- We book four passengers. The rear bench has three belts, but three adults across the back is tight on anything longer than a short hop.
- Luggage is limited to two large cases. The rear door is hinged at the side and carries the spare wheel, so it swings outward, and the chauffeur needs clear space behind the car to load.
- The ride is firmer than a GLS or Range Rover. Over speed bumps you’ll know about it, which most G63 clients count as part of the experience.

No. We only provide the G63 with a chauffeur, never as self-drive or with a driver for your own car. The chauffeur handles the driving, parking and waiting, so you can enjoy the evening without worrying about parking fees, fines or who’s driving home.
Four passengers with two large suitcases. Three adults across the rear bench is only comfortable for very short hops, so we don’t book five. For five or more passengers, book a Cadillac Escalade or GMC Yukon Denali.

For two people with two cases, yes, and it makes a memorable first ride into the city. For families or anyone with three or more large suitcases, book an Escalade or Yukon, because the G63’s boot and side-opening rear door limit how much you can carry.
