How close is Deira to Dubai airport?
Very close. City Centre Deira to DXB Terminal 3 is about 5 km, typically 8–20 minutes; the Gold Souk is about 9 km and 12–35 minutes depending on traffic on Baniyas Road; Al Nahda is about 10 km along Beirut Street. DWC is the opposite: 65 km from Deira, 40–65 minutes, so check which airport is on the ticket.

Google Maps typical-traffic ranges for a Tuesday (late morning off-peak; 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. peak), checked in September 2026. The Sharjah row is the one to plan around: the same 12.6 km that takes 14–35 minutes at 11 a.m. can take well over an hour in the evening rush.
DXB’s terminals matter too. Terminals 1 and 3 are in Al Garhoud, while Terminal 2 (flydubai’s main base) is on the far side of the airfield, and passengers can’t move between Terminal 2 and the others inside the airport. Where does a chauffeur drop you for the Deira souks?
Cars can’t reach the souk lanes, so the drop-off is the edge of them. For the Gold Souk, that’s usually Old Baladiya Street at Al Ras, the main drop-off before the covered pedestrian area; the Spice Souk is a short walk from there along the Creek. We agree a pickup point and time when we drop you, because Al Ras streets are narrow and a car can’t circle for long.
Along the water, Baniyas Road carries the Creek hotels, including Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek and Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers, both easy hotel-entrance pickups. Inland, Al Rigga Street is lined with restaurants close to the Al Rigga and Union metro stations; evening pickups there work best from a side street or your hotel entrance.
Crossing to Bur Dubai, the Infinity Bridge links Al Ras with Al Shindagha (12 lanes over the Creek), and RTA finished the Bur Dubai side of the Al Shindagha Corridor in May 2025. Off the coast, Dubai Islands (the former Deira Islands) is a growing hotel and beach destination we also cover.
Al Garhoud and Port Saeed: the airport side
Al Garhoud sits directly beside DXB Terminals 1 and 3, with hotels such as Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre. Port Saeed is home to City Centre Deira and the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club by the water. The Al Garhoud metro station (renamed from GGICO in 2025) serves the area.
Bookings here are mostly short airport runs: arrivals to a Garhoud or Deira hotel, and business travellers heading over the Al Garhoud Bridge towards Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. From City Centre Deira, Dubai Mall is about 13 km, typically 12–22 minutes.
What about Al Nahda and Al Qusais on the Sharjah border?
Al Nahda (Al Nahda 1 and 2) and Al Qusais run right up to the Sharjah border, and both are dense residential districts. Beirut Street takes you from Al Nahda to DXB in about 12–30 minutes. The catch is Al Ittihad Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road: the morning flow from Sharjah into Dubai is heavy, and the evening flow back is just as bad.
