Abu Dhabi Art 2026 is now Frieze Abu Dhabi: getting to Manarat Al Saadiyat from Dubai

Abu Dhabi Art continues in 2026 as Frieze Abu Dhabi, from 19 to 22 November at Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Thursday 19 November is an invitation-only preview; the fair opens to the public from Friday 20 November, 2 pm to 9 pm daily. From Downtown Dubai it’s about 135 km, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes on the E11.

Collectors and gallery teams staying in Dubai make this trip every November, and it’s one of the easier Abu Dhabi runs we do with our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi: fixed opening hours and a fair that closes at 9 pm rather than after midnight. What needs planning is the preview day and anything you add around the fair.

What happened to Abu Dhabi Art?

It became Frieze Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Art website says the fair “will continue in 2026 as Frieze Abu Dhabi” after its 17th edition in 2025, by which point it had grown from 42 galleries at launch to 142. The new fair is organised by Frieze in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, at the same venue and in the same month.

The Frieze Abu Dhabi website lists 2 pm to 9 pm for all four days and sells tickets online, with a separate VIP access route. The street address it gives is Manarat Al Saadiyat, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Highway.

How far is Saadiyat from Dubai?

Saadiyat Island is on the near side of Abu Dhabi for anyone coming from Dubai. You reach it from the E11 via Yas Island without driving into the city centre.

The route. Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) out of Dubai, which becomes Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road, then the E12 (Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway) past Yas Island onto Saadiyat. Tolls on the way are the Salik gates in Dubai and Darb’s Ghantoot gate near the border (AED 4); in our cars they’re included. Leave-by times. For the 2 pm opening, leave Downtown Dubai at 12:15 pm or Dubai Marina at 12:30 pm. Midday is the easiest window of the day on this road. Leaving at 9 pm, you’re back in Downtown around 10:30 pm; the evening traffic out of Abu Dhabi has gone by then.

Preview day and a collector’s schedule

The preview on Thursday 19 November is invitation-only, and it’s the day when timing matters most: first hours on the floor, meetings booked back to back, dinners after. What we’d plan for:

• Hourly hire beats transfers. A preview day from Dubai runs eight to ten hours door to door. With the car on hourly hire, it waits near Manarat Al Saadiyat while you’re inside, and you’re not tied to a fixed return time if a conversation runs long.
• Stay in Abu Dhabi for more than one day. If you’re doing the preview and a public day, a night or two on Saadiyat or in the city saves two return trips of almost three hours each. We can switch to local Abu Dhabi hourly hire for those days.
• Plan the Cultural District stops. Louvre Abu Dhabi is in the same district, and the fair week is a natural time to add it. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi doesn’t open until 11 December 2026, three weeks after the fair, according to Visit Abu Dhabi. If the fair returns to Saadiyat in 2027, the Guggenheim will be open in the same district.
• We carry people, not artworks. Buying a piece? The gallery handles crating and shipping. A large SUV or V-Class will take portfolios, catalogues and a small wrapped work you’re happy to carry yourself.

Drop-off and pickup at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Frieze hadn’t published drop-off or parking arrangements when we wrote this. Our usual approach on Saadiyat: we drop at the main entrance, the chauffeur waits in the nearest car park, and you message ten minutes before you want to leave. On the preview day, agree a pickup time in advance so the car is already at the kerb when you walk out.

Not under that name. Abu Dhabi Art held its 17th and final edition in November 2025 and continues from 2026 as Frieze Abu Dhabi, organised by Frieze with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. The new fair keeps the same venue, Manarat Al Saadiyat, and the same November slot.

Is the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi open?

Not yet. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opens on 11 December 2026 in the Saadiyat Cultural District, according to Visit Abu Dhabi and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. That’s three weeks after Frieze Abu Dhabi 2026, so the museum won’t be open during this year’s fair. Louvre Abu Dhabi, in the same district, is open.
