Roadshow transport in Dubai and Abu Dhabi: how to plan an investor day
Plan roadshow transport in Dubai and Abu Dhabi: DIFC and ADGM meeting order, buffer times, a sample day, backup car and what to send your chauffeur.

Roadshow transport in Dubai works best with one full-day car and chauffeur per management team, meetings grouped by district, and a backup car on call. Keep Dubai meetings in one block and Abu Dhabi meetings in another, and allow about 1 to 1.5 hours door to door between DIFC and ADGM on Al Maryah Island, more at peak. Our corporate chauffeur service runs roadshow days on exactly this pattern.
The rest of this guide is the detail that IR teams and bank roadshow coordinators ask us for: where the meetings are, how to order them, how much buffer to leave, and what to send us the day before.
Where are roadshow meetings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Most investor meetings sit in two financial free zones, with a few in the districts around them.
| District | Where it is | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| DIFC, Dubai | Alongside Sheikh Zayed Road, running south from the Trade Centre area | Many towers, several entrances. Give us the building name; “DIFC” alone won’t do |
| Business Bay and Downtown | Just south of DIFC, around Burj Khalifa and the Business Bay canal | Short hops from DIFC, but U-turns and one-way loops add minutes |
| Dubai Internet City and Media City | Further south on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the Marina | A separate cluster. Don’t sandwich it between two DIFC meetings |
| ADGM, Abu Dhabi | Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island | Heavy weekday morning traffic onto the islands |
ADGM’s jurisdiction now covers both Al Maryah and Al Reem Islands, so an “ADGM meeting” can be on either. Ask each investor for the tower. Our chauffeurs know the DIFC towers well; see our DIFC chauffeur service for the district.
How should you sequence roadshow meetings?
Order meetings by geography first and by investor priority second. Priority matters, but a priority investor you arrive at late and flustered isn’t a win. These rules hold up across most roadshow days we run:
- Cluster by district. Do all DIFC meetings back to back, then Business Bay, then anything further out. Crossing the city twice costs you a meeting.
- Start near the hotel. If the team stays in DIFC or Downtown, put the first meeting there. The morning peak on Sheikh Zayed Road runs roughly 6–10 a.m. on weekdays, the same window Salik charges its peak toll.
- Treat Abu Dhabi as one block. Never split a day as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai. Do Dubai in the morning and Abu Dhabi in the afternoon, or spend a full day in each emirate.
- Put lunch next to the last morning meeting. A lunch across town eats the buffer you need for the afternoon.
- End near the airport you’re flying from. If the team flies out of Abu Dhabi, finish the day in Abu Dhabi and send the luggage there by car in the morning.
- Leave the last slot soft. The last meeting of the day is the one that gets moved. Keep it in the district you’re already in.
What buffer times should you allow?
Buffers are where most roadshow schedules fail. Bankers plan meeting to meeting on a map; the building’s drop-off, the security desk and the lift all happen between those points.
| Leg | Our planning buffer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Two meetings in the same DIFC cluster | 30 minutes between end and start | Walking between towers can be quicker than the car. We’ll tell you when |
| DIFC to Business Bay or Downtown | 30–45 minutes | Short distance, slow loops and building entrances |
| DIFC to Internet City or Media City | 45–60 minutes | Sheikh Zayed Road in both directions is busy most of the day |
| Dubai to ADGM, off-peak | 1.5–2 hours between meetings | About 1 to 1.5 hours door to door, plus security and arrival |
| Dubai to ADGM, leaving 6–10 a.m. or 4–8 p.m. | Add 20–30 minutes | Peak traffic out of Dubai and onto Abu Dhabi island |
| Any meeting to the airport | Airline check-in close time plus 45 minutes | Missed flights end roadshows |
A useful habit: the chauffeur is outside the building 10 minutes before the scheduled end of each meeting, not at the end. Meetings finish early more often than bankers expect.
A sample roadshow day: Dubai morning, Abu Dhabi afternoon
Here’s how we’d build a two-emirate day for a management team of three staying near DIFC. Times are a template, not a promise; your meeting list decides the real one.
| Time | Movement |
|---|---|
| 07:45 | Pickup at the hotel. Luggage goes separately if the team flies out of Abu Dhabi |
| 08:15 | Meeting 1, DIFC |
| 09:30 | Meeting 2, DIFC (walk or short drive) |
| 10:45 | Meeting 3, Business Bay |
| 12:00 | Working lunch near meeting 3 |
| 13:15 | Depart for Abu Dhabi on the E11, before Abu Dhabi’s afternoon peak |
| 15:00 | Meeting 4, ADGM, Al Maryah Island |
| 16:15 | Meeting 5, ADGM, Al Reem Island |
| 17:30 | Hotel in Abu Dhabi, or on to Zayed International Airport |
Two things make this day work. The Abu Dhabi block starts after lunch, so the car leaves Dubai between peaks. And the day ends in the emirate the team sleeps or flies from. For the drive itself, see our Dubai to Abu Dhabi chauffeur page.
How many cars does a roadshow need?
One car per travelling team, plus a backup car, is the standard we recommend.
- Management team of one or two: a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series. The banker usually rides along.
- Team of three to five: a Mercedes V-Class. Facing seats let the team prepare for the next meeting on the way, which a sedan can’t do.
- Backup car: a business sedan on standby for the day, or on call. It covers a split (the CFO peels off for a separate meeting), a late extra meeting, a luggage run to the hotel or a mechanical problem.
- Luggage car: on departure days, send bags ahead in a separate car so the meeting car isn’t a suitcase store.
Book full days, not hourly hire, for roadshows. A ten-hour day with one chauffeur means the car waits outside every building and the chauffeur learns the day’s rhythm. Hourly hire has a three-hour minimum with us, so it suits a half-day of meetings, not a roadshow.
Tolls, waiting and what’s in the price
Nobody on a roadshow wants to discuss a toll receipt. On our bookings, fuel, Salik tolls, the chauffeur’s waiting time and VAT are in the price.
For reference: Salik charges AED 6 per crossing at peak and AED 4 off-peak, and 5% VAT has been added on top since 1 June 2026. In Abu Dhabi, the Darb system charges AED 4 per crossing at peak, 7–9 a.m. and 3–7 p.m., except Sundays and official holidays. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfers include Darb as well as Salik.
What to send the chauffeur company the day before
The best roadshow days start with a clean brief. Send one document, the evening before, with:
- Passenger names, mobile numbers and who is the decision maker for changes.
- The meeting list: time, investor, tower name and entrance, and a contact at reception.
- Hotel and checkout time, and where luggage goes.
- Flight numbers for arrivals and departures.
- Which car each person rides in, and whether the banker joins.
- Billing reference or cost centre for the invoice.
Then set up one WhatsApp group with the EA or roadshow coordinator, the lead banker and our dispatcher. Changes go there, not in separate calls to the chauffeur while he’s driving. If the day includes a larger group, our guide to delegation and VIP visitor transport covers multi-car moves, and our Dubai rush hour guide shows when each road jams.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to drive from DIFC to ADGM?
About 1 to 1.5 hours door to door on the E11 in normal traffic. Add 20–30 minutes if you leave Dubai during the weekday peaks (6–10 a.m. or 4–8 p.m.) or arrive onto Abu Dhabi island in its morning rush. For a meeting at ADGM, we plan 1.5–2 hours between the end of the last Dubai meeting and the start of the first Abu Dhabi one.
How many cars do we need for an investor roadshow in Dubai?
One car per travelling team and one backup car. A management team of up to two fits a first-class sedan; three to five people should use a Mercedes V-Class so they can talk. The backup car handles splits, luggage and last-minute extra meetings.
Should we book hourly or full-day for a roadshow?
Full day. A ten-hour booking keeps one chauffeur and one car with the team from hotel pickup to the last meeting, including all waiting. Hourly hire, with its three-hour minimum, fits a morning of meetings but gets messy across a full roadshow day.
Can the same chauffeur drive us from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back?
Yes. We have full local service in Abu Dhabi, so the car and chauffeur stay with the team through ADGM meetings and bring you back to Dubai, or drop you at Zayed International Airport. Tell us in the brief so the day is booked as one programme.
How much does it cost to hire a chauffeur service in Dubai for a roadshow?
Published Dubai rate cards from September 2026 put an S-Class at about AED 1,400–2,500 for a full day and a V-Class at about AED 1,400–1,600. Trips into another emirate usually carry a surcharge of about AED 125–200 on the market. Our rates are on the pricing page.
