The name goes back to 1935, and Chevrolet bills the Suburban as the longest-running nameplate in the car industry. Today it’s the long-wheelbase version of GM’s full-size SUV, built to the same length as the GMC Yukon XL and the Cadillac Escalade ESV. In practice that means Yukon comfort with a much bigger boot.

How much luggage fits in a Chevrolet Suburban?
Five large suitcases with seven passengers on board. That’s one more case and one more person than we book in a Yukon or Escalade. The Suburban is roughly 40–50 cm longer than the standard-length Tahoe and Yukon, and nearly all of that goes into the load space, so the third row keeps its legroom and the cases still fit behind it.
Where that extra space earns its keep:
- Families relocating or on a long holiday, with a trolley of checked bags plus strollers and car seats.
- Golf trips. Golf bags are long and awkward, and the Suburban takes them behind the third row more easily than shorter SUVs.
- Business groups carrying exhibition kit, sample cases or camera gear alongside their own luggage.
- Five passengers with the third row folded, which turns the back into a van-sized load bay.
Seven passengers is the ceiling we book. Chevrolet builds the Suburban with up to nine seats, but seven passengers plus the chauffeur leaves everyone a proper seat and keeps the load space clear. Child seats take a full seat each, so tell us ages when you book.
On the road, the Suburban drives like its shorter siblings: high seating, a quiet V8 and a relaxed ride at motorway speed. There’s bottled water and Wi-Fi on board.

For seven passengers, choose between the Suburban and a van. The Yukon and Escalade top out at six in our bookings. Pick the Suburban for an SUV’s height and look; pick a van if you’d rather walk into the cabin and sit facing each other.
