Abu Dhabi Festival 2026, the 23rd edition, runs from 10 October to 19 December 2026 at venues across the capital, including Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, the Cultural Foundation and Louvre Abu Dhabi. From Dubai, an 8pm concert means leaving around 6pm and getting home near midnight, so book a car that waits.

Most festival nights are evening concerts, ballet and recitals, which makes them one of the trickier Abu Dhabi trips we plan. You drive out in the evening peak and back late, on a road with tolls at both ends. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi chauffeur service handles the round trip, and our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi covers pickups from hotels in the capital if you’re staying there. Here’s how we’d plan the rest of the 2026 season.

When is Abu Dhabi Festival 2026, and what about 2027?

The festival is run by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) and began in 2004. The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced the 2026 edition under the theme “The Wisdom of Culture”, running 10 October to 19 December 2026. The timing has moved around: the 2025 edition opened in February, with Japan as guest country of honour.

Because the season has shifted between spring and autumn, we wouldn’t plan 2027 travel around a “usual” month. Watch the Abu Dhabi Festival website and our Dubai events calendar.

What’s left in the Abu Dhabi Festival 2026 programme, and where?

The festival’s own programme page and Aletihad’s programme listing give these public evenings from mid-October. Talks marked invite-only on the official site are left out.

Start times for the Emirates Palace, Cultural Foundation and Louvre nights weren’t on the official site when we checked. Visit Abu Dhabi’s events calendar lists festival evenings as 8pm to 10:30pm, so plan on that and confirm on your ticket.

When should you leave Dubai?

The venues fall into three zones, and the drive time depends on which one you’re heading to. These are the times our dispatch team allows for an 8pm start on a weekday, including the evening peak leaving Dubai and time to walk in.

Venue zoneDistance from Dubai MarinaLeave Dubai Marina byLeave Downtown by
Yas Island (Etihad Arena)about 92 km6:30pm6:00pm
Saadiyat Island (Louvre, Zayed National Museum)about 115 km6:15pm5:45pm
Corniche and central island (Emirates Palace, Cultural Foundation, Umm Al Emarat Park)about 127 km6:00pm5:30pm

Add 10 minutes if you’re starting in Deira or near DXB. For Hans Zimmer at 8:30pm on a Friday, the Yas times above have half an hour of slack. Arena shows are where you’ll want it, because a full arena’s worth of cars heads for the same car parks. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi travel time guide breaks the drive down by hour.

Tolls come in two sets: Salik gates on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, then Abu Dhabi’s Darb gate at Ghantoot (AED 4 per crossing since May 2026) and the bridge gates onto the island at peak times. In our cars all of them are part of the price.

Parking and drop-off at the main venues

Etihad Arena. The arena’s directions and parking page shows public parking at car park C37 (also the taxi pickup point), the Lifestyle car park and a multi-storey. Suite, Royal, VIP and Platinum ticket holders use P1-A and P1-B. We drop you at the car park that matches your ticket, then wait nearby. After a sold-out show, C37 doubles as the taxi rank, so we set your pickup slightly away from it.

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental. A hotel venue, so arrival is through the hotel’s front driveway. Ballet and gala nights are dressier evenings, and a Mercedes S-Class with chauffeur suits the occasion. The chauffeur parks on the hotel side and comes back to the door when you message.

Saadiyat and the Cultural Foundation. Smaller audiences and an easier exit. Give us the exact venue on your ticket, since Saadiyat’s cultural district has several buildings close together.

Getting home: day return or stay over?

A concert ending at 10:30pm puts you back in Dubai Marina at around midnight, a little later for Downtown. Two ways to do it:

  1. Round trip with waiting. The car takes you out, waits through the performance and drives you home. Simplest for one evening, and you’re never looking for a ride on Yas Island at 11pm.
  2. Stay the night. Book a hotel near the venue, travel out in the afternoon and back the next morning. Better for back-to-back nights like 26 and 29 November at Emirates Palace.

Watch the first week of December. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs 3–6 December 2026 on Yas Island, and roads around the island are heavy that weekend.

Frequently asked questions

When is Abu Dhabi Festival 2026?

The 23rd Abu Dhabi Festival runs from 10 October to 19 December 2026, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. It opened with the UAE National Orchestra at Etihad Arena and closes with Dhafer Youssef at Louvre Abu Dhabi on 19 December.

Where is Abu Dhabi Festival held?

Across several venues in Abu Dhabi rather than one site. The 2026 programme uses Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, the Cultural Foundation, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Umm Al Emarat Park. Your ticket names the venue.

Is there a festival in Abu Dhabi today?

From 10 October to 19 December 2026, Abu Dhabi Festival is running, with concerts, ballet and recitals on selected evenings rather than every night. The Children’s Biennale at Umm Al Emarat Park runs from 6 November to 6 December. Visit Abu Dhabi’s events calendar lists everything else on in the capital.

How long is the drive from Dubai to Etihad Arena?

Etihad Arena on Yas Island is about 92 km from Dubai Marina, roughly an hour in normal traffic, and longer from Downtown or Deira. On show nights, allow 90 minutes from Dubai Marina for an 8pm start, since the evening peak and arena car parks both add time.

When is Abu Dhabi Festival 2027?

ADMAF hasn’t announced the 2027 dates. The festival opened in February in 2025 and moved to an October–December season in 2026, so there’s no settled month yet. Dates usually come with the programme announcement on the official festival website.
