Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 runs 10–14 January 2027. The opening ceremony is on Tuesday 12 January, and the World Future Energy Summit fills ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi from 12 to 14 January. From Dubai, the drive takes 75 minutes to 2 hours. Opening day starts at 7:30am, so plan a 5:45am pickup from Downtown.

ADSW is several events under one name, and they don’t all need the same car. We run Dubai to Abu Dhabi chauffeur transfers for delegates who stay in Dubai, and local hire for those who move to the capital for the week. This guide is the week seen from the road: which days you need to be at ADNEC, when to leave, and what to book.

ADSW 2027 at a glance: which event, which day

Masdar hosts ADSW and has done since 2008. The ADSW website lists the 2027 programme under the theme “Securing Systems. Sustaining Growth.”:

EventDatesWhereAccess
IRENA AssemblySun 10 – Mon 11 JanuaryAbu DhabiInvitation only
ADSW Opening Ceremony and Zayed Sustainability Prize awardsTue 12 JanuaryADNEC, ICC HallOpen; register interest

For most delegates, the week is really Tuesday to Thursday at ADNEC. The IRENA Assembly on Sunday and Monday is for invited delegations, and the ADSW site gives its venue only as Abu Dhabi, so send us the address from your invitation before we plan the route.

The 2026 dates are from the Abu Dhabi Media Office’s ADNEC calendar for early 2026. The last two editions both opened in the second week of January, so expect the same in 2028.

What time should you leave Dubai for ADSW?

WFES opens at 7:30am on 12 January and at 9am on 13 and 14 January, closing at 5pm each day, according to the summit’s venue and travel page. Those starts sit right on top of the morning rush.

DayDoorsLeave Downtown or Business BayLeave Dubai Marina or JLT

Wed 13 Jan9:00am7:00am7:15am
Thu 14 Jan9:00am7:00am7:15am

A 5:45am pickup sounds brutal. It’s still the right call. Before 7am the roads out of Dubai are clear and the drive to ADNEC takes about 1 hour 30 minutes; leave at 7am on opening day and you meet both cities’ rush hours and walk in after the ceremony has started. From Deira or the DXB area, add 10 minutes. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi distance and travel time guide has the full table by district and hour.

Going home, the 5pm close lands in the evening peak, when we allow up to 2 hours back to Downtown. Leave at 4:30pm, or after 8pm once dinner is done, and you save about half an hour.

Parking at ADNEC or a drop-off at the hall?

Unlike IDEX, WFES lets visitors park on site. The organiser lists 6,000 spaces at ADNEC for about AED 55 a day. ADNEC also takes online bookings for car parks A and B: you register your plate, receive a QR code by email, and need that code to get in and out. A parking booking doesn’t include event entry.

Parking works if you’re driving yourself and arrive early. It doesn’t help much at 7:30am on opening day, when everyone is queuing for the same entrances. A chauffeur drops you at the door nearest your session, the ICC Hall for the opening ceremony and Hall 11 for the Summit, then holds the car nearby until you call. Ring 20 minutes before you want to leave; the approach roads around ADNEC are slow at 5pm.

Commute every day, or split the week?

Most ADSW bookings we plan fall into one of two shapes.

Commute daily. A return with waiting each day: the car collects you in Dubai, drops you at ADNEC and brings you back. Each leg passes the Darb gate at Ghantoot on the E11 (AED 4 at any hour) and a Darb bridge gate onto Abu Dhabi island, which charges AED 4 between 7 and 9am and between 3 and 7pm, Monday to Saturday. Those tolls are inside our fixed Dubai–Abu Dhabi price, along with Salik, fuel and VAT, so they never show up as extra lines.

Split the week. Transfer to Abu Dhabi on Monday evening, use our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi by the hour or the day from Tuesday to Thursday, and transfer back to Dubai after the last session. You lose the 5:45am start and gain two to three hours a day.

Our view: if you’re there for all three ADNEC days, split the week. If you’re there for one day, or only the opening ceremony, commute.

For budgeting, published Dubai rate cards in September 2026 put a business sedan with driver at AED 600–1,300 for a full 10-hour day and a V-Class at AED 1,400–1,600, with an extra-emirate surcharge of about AED 125–200 on some cards. A 5:45am to 7pm commute runs past 10 hours, so tell us the real times and we’ll price the day as one job. Our own rates are on the pricing page.

Exhibitor teams and delegation groups

A stand team of eight moves more easily in one vehicle than in four cars, and arrives together. A V-Class seats six; for seven or eight, a Vito or Toyota HiAce; above that, a minibus or coach from our bus rental in Abu Dhabi service, collected from a Dubai or Abu Dhabi hotel. Salik and Darb tolls are in the quote for every vehicle size.

For a team running a stand all three days, the daily loop is simple: one pickup at the hotel, one drop at the hall, one return after close. Fix those times on Monday and keep them.

Two ADNEC weeks in one January

ADSW isn’t ADNEC’s only big week of January 2027. IDEX and NAVDEX follow on 25–29 January, with sticker-only parking and much stricter access, so if your company attends both, plan them separately. Our Dubai events calendar shows what’s running in Dubai the same weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Where will Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 be held?

At ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, on Khaleej Al Arabi Street. The opening ceremony is in the ICC Hall, the ADSW Summit in Hall 11, and the World Future Energy Summit across the exhibition halls. The invitation-only IRENA Assembly on 10–11 January is listed only as “Abu Dhabi”, so check your invitation for its venue.

What is ADSW?

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual January gathering on energy and sustainability, hosted by Masdar since 2008. It combines invitation-only meetings such as the IRENA Assembly and the ADSW Summit with public events, including the opening ceremony, the Zayed Sustainability Prize awards and the World Future Energy Summit exhibition.

When is Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2028?

The 2028 dates haven’t been announced yet. ADSW usually runs in the second week of January: the 2026 edition was 11–15 January and 2027 is 10–14 January. Check the official ADSW website before booking hotels or cars.

Is there parking at ADNEC for the World Future Energy Summit?

Yes. The organiser lists 6,000 onsite spaces at ADNEC for about AED 55 a day. ADNEC sells online parking for car parks A and B with a QR code sent by email, which you need to enter and leave. Parking doesn’t include event entry. On the 7:30am opening day, a drop-off is faster.

How long does it take from Dubai to ADNEC?

About 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours by car, depending on your starting point and the time. Before 7am, Downtown Dubai to ADNEC takes about 1 hour 30 minutes; between 7 and 9:30am, allow up to 2 hours. Dubai Marina and JLT are 10–15 minutes quicker.
