Dubai Comedy Festival 2027: venues, drop-off and getting home after the show

The Dubai Comedy Festival 2027 hasn’t been dated yet, but the last two editions both ran in October: 2–12 October 2025 and 9–18 October 2026. Shows are spread across Dubai Opera, Coca-Cola Arena, New Covent Garden Theatre at Mall of the Emirates and Pepperoni Comedy Club at One Central. Most doors open at 6pm or 9pm, and the pickup after a late show needs a plan.

The festival is ten evenings of stand-up in several languages, which means ten evenings of crowds leaving theatres between about 8pm and midnight. When is the Dubai Comedy Festival 2027?

The organiser hasn’t announced the 2027 dates. The Dubai Comedy Festival describes 2026 as its 7th edition, running 9–18 October 2026 with “10 days of non-stop laughs”, and the 2025 edition also ran in early October.

The 2025 edition opened with Tom Segura at Coca-Cola Arena on 2 October, according to Gulf News. In 2026, Mo Gilligan and Katherine Ryan both played Dubai Opera on 12 October. Where is the Dubai Comedy Festival held?

There’s no single festival site. Each show has its own venue, and the four regular ones sit in different parts of Dubai with different drop-off rules.

Doors, start times and why the exit is the hard part

The 2026 show list gives doors times rather than finish times. Most were 6pm or 9pm, with a few between 4:30pm and 8:30pm. A headline set plus support runs into late evening, so a 9pm doors time means you’re walking out well after 11pm.

Two things catch people out:

• Double-header nights. On 12 October 2026, Dubai Opera had Mo Gilligan with doors at 6pm and Katherine Ryan with doors at 9pm. The first audience leaves as the second arrives, and both crowds use the same plaza. If you’re at the early show, step away from the Plaza for your pickup. If you’re at the late one, arrive early.
• Latecomer rules. Dubai Opera applies a lockout period to latecomers, and comics don’t love people walking in mid-set either. Downtown traffic before an 8pm start is heavy, so leave earlier than the map suggests.

Our approach for a comedy night is simple. The chauffeur drops you at the venue’s front, parks, and waits. You message him when the last act comes on, not when the lights come up, and we fix a pickup point a few minutes’ walk from the main doors, away from the taxi queue.

Two shows in one night, or dinner after?

Festival weeks tempt people into a club show at 7pm and a theatre show later, or a show and a late dinner in DIFC. On one-way taxis that’s four rides with four waits. With hourly hire (3-hour minimum) it’s one car that moves when you do.

Rough hops we plan around, in normal evening traffic:

• Dubai Opera to Coca-Cola Arena: short. Dubai Opera is on the Downtown side of Sheikh Zayed Road and City Walk is on the Jumeirah side, so it’s a quick crossing, unless both venues are emptying at once.
• Mall of the Emirates to Downtown: longer, straight up Sheikh Zayed Road. Allow for the evening peak.
• One Central to Downtown: close, but the roads around Dubai World Trade Centre slow down when DWTC has an evening event on.

If your plans change mid-evening, tell the chauffeur. That’s the point of having the car.

Which car for a comedy night?

• A couple: a Mercedes S-Class with chauffeur or a business sedan. Quiet, quick at the drop-off.
• Four friends: a large SUV. Everyone fits without the middle seat argument.
• Six or seven: Mercedes V-Class. One car, one pickup point.
• An office outing of 12 or more: a minibus with driver. Book the return for a fixed time and keep the group together.

All prices include the chauffeur, fuel, Salik tolls and VAT, with no night surcharge, which matters when your last show lets out near midnight.
