The Hero Dubai Desert Classic 2027 runs Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 January at Emirates Golf Club on Sheikh Zayed Road. There’s no public parking at the venue, so you arrive by metro (Al Fardan Exchange station is right outside the club entrance), by taxi to the main entrance, or by chauffeur drop-off. Limited paid parking opens on the weekend only.
That one rule shapes the whole trip. People who’d normally drive to a golf tournament need another plan, and we arrange event limousine and chauffeur transport for spectators and hospitality guests who’d rather be dropped at the gate. Here’s what the organiser has published for 2027 and how we’d use it.
When is the Dubai Desert Classic 2027?
The organiser confirms 21–24 January 2027 at Emirates Golf Club, on the Majlis course, on the Hero Dubai Desert Classic website. It’s a Rolex Series event on the DP World Tour with a US$9 million prize fund, and the players compete for the Dallah Trophy. General admission covers Thursday to Sunday.
| Edition | Dates | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 22–25 January 2026 | Last edition (the 37th) |
| 2027 | 21–24 January 2027 | Confirmed by the organiser |
| 2028 | Not announced yet | Usually the second half of January |
The Desert Classic has been played in the second half of January in each of the last two years. Outside the golf, Tournament Town, the fan village with food and music, is open 10am to 11pm. That late close matters more for transport than the golf does.
No public parking: what it means for your day
The organiser’s wording is blunt: “There will be no public parking available at The Hero Dubai Desert Classic 2027.” On Saturday and Sunday only, there’s limited paid parking, first come first served, in two car parks next to the venue: Reem Al Sahra Car Park Rental and the American University in Dubai. You reach both on foot across a footbridge. For anything further out, the organiser points drivers to RTA paid parking through the RTA app.
So on Thursday and Friday, driving yourself isn’t really an option. On the weekend, it’s a gamble on a small number of spaces. If you’re coming with family or a group, a drop-off at the main entrance is the simpler plan.
Getting there: metro, bus, taxi or chauffeur
All of the details below come from the organiser’s Plan Your Visit page.
| Option | What the organiser says | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Metro | Al Fardan Exchange station on the Red Line, Exit 2, is right outside the golf club entrance; about 12 minutes from Dubai Marina and 25 minutes from Downtown Dubai | Most visitors, especially Thursday and Friday |
| Bus | Routes 8, 84 and F55 stop at “Emirates Golf Club 2”, about a five-minute walk away | People living along those routes |
| Taxi or ride-hailing | Taxis drop off directly at the club’s main entrance | One-way trips |
| Weekend car parks | Reem Al Sahra and American University in Dubai, Saturday and Sunday only, limited and paid | Drivers who arrive early |
| Chauffeur | Drop at the main entrance; the car waits off site and comes back on your message | Groups, families, hospitality guests |
The metro is very good here, and we’ll say so even though we sell cars. A station right outside the entrance on the Red Line beats any car park. Where a chauffeur earns its keep is the family group with tired children, and the trip home after Tournament Town closes at 11pm.
Leaving after Tournament Town
Most golf crowds drift away through the afternoon. The Desert Classic is different because Tournament Town keeps people on site into the evening, then sends them out together onto Sheikh Zayed Road.
Our routine for evening pickups:
- Use the main entrance as the meeting point. It’s the spot the organiser names for taxi drop-offs, so everyone in your group can find it.
- Send the message before you leave your table. The walk from the fan village to the entrance takes a few minutes, and so does the car’s loop off Sheikh Zayed Road.
- Don’t wait for the 11pm close if you have a flight. Leave at 10pm and you’re ahead of the crowd.
If you’re staying nearby, the trip home is short. From the hotels in Dubai Marina and Al Barsha, a chauffeur round trip for the evening is often simpler than two separate taxi bookings.
January on Sheikh Zayed Road
The tournament falls on a busy stretch of the calendar. The Dubai Marathon runs on Sunday 17 January, the Sunday before, with road closures around Umm Suqeim and Al Sufouh on race morning. The Monday after the final, World Health Expo opens across Dubai Exhibition Centre and DWTC (25–28 January); our Dubai events calendar has the rest of the month.
Thursday 21 and Friday 22 January are working days. Emirates Golf Club sits on the stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road that carries the evening commute towards Dubai Marina and Jebel Ali, so a 5pm departure towards the Marina will crawl. Our rush hour guide covers the worst windows.
Booking a car for the Desert Classic
- One or two guests with Dallah Lounge or Clubhouse tickets: a Mercedes S-Class, dropped at the main entrance.
- A family or four friends: a large SUV with room for bags and whatever you buy in Tournament Town.
- Five to seven people: a Mercedes V-Class, so everyone leaves together.
- A corporate group: a van or minibus with driver for the day.
For a full day, hourly hire (3-hour minimum) lets the car come and go. For a fixed plan, book a drop-off and a set pickup time. Prices include fuel, Salik and VAT, and you can cancel free up to 6 hours before pickup.
