Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27: getting to the malls, drone shows and fireworks
DSF 2026–27 runs 4 Dec to 17 Jan. How to reach the malls, drone shows and fireworks without the parking hunt, and when hourly chauffeur hire pays off.

The Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27 runs for 45 days, from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. It has no single venue: the sales run across the malls, and the free evening shows pull crowds to the coast and Festival City. The easiest way to do it is an hourly chauffeur for shopping days and a pre-agreed pickup point for show nights.
DSF is our busiest stretch for hourly chauffeur service in Dubai. No single night is hard. The problem is six weeks of mall traffic, drone shows, concerts, New Year’s Eve and winter visitors landing on the same roads. This guide covers what’s confirmed for 2026–27, what happened last season, and how we plan the transport around it.
When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?
Visit Dubai’s DSF page, which is where the old mydsf.ae address now points, lists the 32nd edition from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. The organiser is Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism. When the dates were announced on 14 October 2026, DFRE said the full programme of concerts, raffles and citywide events would follow within about a month.
| Edition | Dates | Status |
|---|---|---|
| DSF 2025–26 (31st) | 5 December 2025 to 11 January 2026 | Finished |
| DSF 2026–27 (32nd) | 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027 | Confirmed |
| DSF 2027–28 | Not announced yet; usually early December to mid-January | Expected late 2027 |
| DSF 2028–29 | Not announced yet; usually early December to mid-January | Expected late 2028 |
Confirmed so far for 2026–27: etisalat DSF Nights concerts, DSF x Hatta Wadi Hub, DSF Auto Season, etisalat MOTB in January, raffles and mall promotions, plus a new first: etisalat Beach Canteen at Sunset Beach. Venues and times for most of these haven’t been published yet. We’ll update this guide when they are.
Where do the crowds go during DSF?
Shopping is spread thin across the city. The evening shows are not. Last season’s programme tells you where the pressure points will be, because most of it repeats.
| What (2025–26) | Where | When | Transport note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drone shows | Between Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR | Nightly at 8pm and 10pm, free | The busiest pickup zone of the festival |
| Fireworks | Dubai Festival City Mall (Festival Bay) | Nightly at 8:30pm | Mall car parks fill on weekends |
| DSF Nights concerts | Festival Bay | Selected nights | Exits overlap with mall closing traffic |
| Hatta fireworks | DSF x Hatta Wadi Hub | Friday and Saturday evenings in December | A day trip; plan the drive back |
| New Year’s Eve fireworks | Souk Al Seef, Hatta, Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR | 11:59pm on 31 December | City-wide road closures; see below |
The drone show details come from Gulf News’s report on the DSF drone shows, which described more than 1,000 drones over Bluewaters and JBR, with two shows a night. That’s the one to plan around. Two shows means two exit waves, and the 10pm show empties onto the same streets as JBR’s restaurant crowd.
Shopping days: hourly hire or park it yourself?
A DSF shopping day looks simple on paper. One mall in the morning, another after lunch, dinner somewhere else. Then you add the bags.
Here’s how a typical day goes when you drive yourself. You queue into the car park at the first mall, walk from your bay to the shops, walk back with bags, queue out, drive across the city, queue into the second car park, and repeat. Downtown’s car parks bill by the hour through Salik once the free period runs out (our Dubai Opera parking guide explains how the Downtown rates work), and the queue to leave Dubai Mall on a December weekend can take longer than the drive to your next stop.
With a chauffeur on hourly hire, the car drops you at the mall entrance, waits, and takes the bags while you carry on. Our minimum is 3 hours. For market context, published Dubai rate cards in September 2026 put a business sedan with driver at AED 90–120 an hour and a half day at AED 500–850. We don’t add surge pricing in December, or on any other night.
How we’d plan a DSF mall day:
- Start early. Malls are quietest in the late morning on weekdays. That’s the window for the busiest stores.
- Give us the order of malls. We’ll suggest the route that keeps you off Sheikh Zayed Road at 5pm.
- Leave the bags in the car. The chauffeur stays with the car, so purchases stay locked in while you shop on.
- Finish at a show, not at a mall. If you want the drone show or the Festival City fireworks, end the day there and let us collect you afterwards from a point outside the crowd.
Visitors who want sightseeing between shops can book the same car as a luxury city tour and fit the malls around it.
Show nights: getting in and out
The drone shows and fireworks are free and short. A 15-minute show can mean an hour of traffic if you try to leave by car straight after it.
What works for us:
- Drop off early, before 7:30pm for the 8pm show. Roads into JBR and Bluewaters load in the half hour before each show.
- Pick a meeting point a short walk away. We agree it when we drop you. Your chauffeur is waiting there, not in the queue on the main road.
- Watch the 10pm show if you’re eating nearby. The 8pm crowd leaves while the 10pm crowd arrives, so the late show is easier to reach after dinner, though it ends later.
- Festival City is a different trip. It’s on the Creek side near the airport, so combine it with a Deira or Festival City dinner rather than crossing the city twice.
For a family or a group of friends, a Mercedes V-Class or other van with driver keeps everyone together, and nobody has to search for parking near JBR in December.
Dubai Shopping Festival clashes with other events
DSF overlaps with some of the busiest weeks of the year. These are the ones that change journey times:
- Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, 3–6 December 2026. DSF opens on the Friday of race weekend, so its first weekend shares Sheikh Zayed Road with Grand Prix traffic heading to Abu Dhabi.
- GITEX Global, 7–11 December 2026. The expo is at Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City for the first time, adding commuter traffic on the south-west routes.
- Global Village Season 31. Open every evening through DSF, with the heaviest crowds on weekends. Our Global Village guide covers parking and closing-time pickups.
- New Year’s Eve. Downtown roads close in stages from the afternoon of 31 December. Our New Year’s Eve transport guide has last year’s official closure plan.
The full season, month by month, is in our Dubai events calendar.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?
The 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, according to Visit Dubai and the organiser, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. That’s 45 days. The full programme of concerts, shows and raffles was due to be published about a month after the dates were announced in October 2026.
Where are the DSF drone shows?
In 2025–26, the DSF drone shows ran between Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR, twice nightly at 8pm and 10pm, and they were free to watch. The 2026–27 drone show locations and times haven’t been published yet. Arrive early and agree a pickup point away from the beachfront if you’re coming by car.
Is there a DSF fireworks show every night?
Last season, Dubai Festival City Mall ran fireworks nightly at 8:30pm for the whole festival, and Hatta held fireworks on December weekend evenings. On New Year’s Eve, there were fireworks at Souk Al Seef, Hatta, Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR. The 2026–27 fireworks schedule will be confirmed with the full programme.
What is the best time to shop in Dubai?
For deals, the Dubai Shopping Festival from December to January is the main sale season. For a calm visit, go on a weekday late morning. Weekend afternoons and evenings during DSF are the busiest times in the malls and in their car parks, especially in Downtown.
Is it worth hiring a car with a driver for DSF?
For a full shopping day, usually yes. You avoid paying for and queuing at several car parks, your bags stay in the car, and you’re dropped at each entrance. Hourly chauffeur hire has a 3-hour minimum. For a single short trip to one mall, a taxi is simpler.
