Etihad chauffeur service: who qualifies in 2026, Dubai coverage and the alternatives

Etihad’s complimentary chauffeur, called Etihad UAE Chauffeur, runs between Zayed International Airport (AUH) and any address in the UAE, Dubai included. In September 2026 it comes with The Residence, First, and Business Comfort and Business Deluxe fares, plus the matching Saver Awards. You book at least 12 hours before the flight, and each car takes two guests and two suitcases.

The rules have changed several times over the years, so treat any advice older than a few months with suspicion, including forum posts. Below are the current terms from Etihad’s own site, what they mean if you’re staying in Dubai, and what to do when you don’t qualify. Who qualifies for Etihad chauffeur in 2026?

Etihad’s chauffeur terms and conditions limit Etihad UAE Chauffeur to guests on these fares, and exclude every kind of upgrade (complimentary, redemption, paid or operational):

The terms allow one chauffeur trip per flight sector for each eligible booking.

There’s one more route in. Etihad’s chauffeur page says that, depending on your Etihad Guest tier and Custom Benefits, you may be eligible even on a ticket that doesn’t qualify by fare. Check your member account before assuming either way.

How Etihad’s chauffeur rules have changed

Etihad has adjusted this benefit repeatedly, which is why online answers disagree:

• July 2021. Etihad ran a promotion offering Economy guests a free car to and from Dubai.
• 26 February 2026. Outside the UAE, Etihad Global Chauffeur now covers Business Deluxe bookings created on or after this date, alongside The Residence and First Deluxe tickets.
• Now (September 2026). The UAE service covers The Residence, First and the two upper Business fares, and the terms include First and Business Saver Awards.

Our advice is simple: read the live Etihad Chauffeur page when you book, and again a week before you fly.

Does Etihad chauffeur go to Dubai?

Yes. Etihad’s terms say the service runs “to and from any location in the UAE accessible via Google Maps”, and that the complimentary trip includes all taxes, tolls and gratuities. International border crossings aren’t allowed.

That makes Etihad Chauffeur a genuinely good deal for Dubai residents flying Business Comfort or better from Abu Dhabi. The drive is long:

Car, luggage and waiting limits

This is where Etihad’s service is tighter than people expect. From the terms:

• The car. The standard vehicle in the UAE is a station wagon, subject to availability.
• Capacity. Each vehicle takes up to two guests, two standard suitcases and one cabin bag.
• No overflow car. You can’t request an additional vehicle for excess baggage.
• Waiting. You get an SMS when the chauffeur arrives, and the chauffeur waits up to 25 minutes from the scheduled pickup time.

So a couple with two suitcases fits. A family of four with four cases, a golf bag or a pram doesn’t, even if everyone holds an eligible ticket. That’s when a second car, or one larger car for everyone, makes sense.

How to book Etihad chauffeur

1. Book at least 12 hours before your flight. Etihad takes bookings through its chauffeur booking page or Manage Booking. If a travel agent issued your ticket, go through them.
2. Give the details Etihad asks for: a valid contact number, your full address, the city code, and preferred pickup times for both the departure and arrival flights.
3. Expect a confirmation call. EuroGulf, Etihad’s chauffeur provider, calls 12 to 24 hours before departure to confirm the final pickup time.
4. On arrival at AUH, collect your bags first. Etihad’s chauffeur reception in Abu Dhabi is next to baggage belt 10.
5. Change or cancel at least 12 hours before the flight. If you don’t cancel in time, Etihad says you can’t rebook a chauffeur on the same ticket.

What if you don’t qualify, or it doesn’t fit?

The Etihad car covers one job well: two people, two suitcases, one address. Everything else needs a plan B.

The Etihad Shuttle is the free option worth knowing about. Etihad says it’s free for anyone on an Etihad-operated flight to or from Abu Dhabi, booked through Manage Booking at least 24 hours before the flight. The Dubai stop is Al Wasl Centre, behind Safestway Supermarket on Sheikh Zayed Road. It isn’t available to unaccompanied minors or guests who need medical or mobility assistance, and from Al Wasl Centre you still need a taxi or a car to your door.

Does Etihad Business Class include chauffeur?

Only on some fares. Etihad’s terms list Business Comfort and Business Deluxe fares, and the matching Saver Awards. Other Business fares aren’t on the list, and upgrades into Business never qualify. Check the fare name on your booking, or your Etihad Guest benefits, before planning your airport transfer around it.

Does Etihad chauffeur go to Dubai?

Yes. Etihad UAE Chauffeur runs between Zayed International Airport and any UAE address reachable on Google Maps, so Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates are covered. From AUH, Dubai Marina is about 99 km and Downtown Dubai about 115 km by road. It won’t cross international borders.

How many bags fit in the Etihad chauffeur car?

Two standard suitcases and one cabin bag, with a maximum of two guests. The standard car in the UAE is a station wagon, and Etihad won’t provide an extra vehicle for excess baggage. Families or anyone with sports equipment should book a second car or a private SUV or van.

Yes. Etihad Shuttle is complimentary for guests on Etihad-operated flights to or from Abu Dhabi, whatever the cabin. Book it through Etihad’s Manage Booking at least 24 hours before your flight. In Dubai it picks up and drops off at Al Wasl Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the trip takes about 75 minutes.
