Emirates chauffeur drive in Dubai: who qualifies, where it goes and how to book
Emirates chauffeur drive explained: which First and Business fares qualify, Dubai coverage, the 10-hour booking rule, and what to do if you don't qualify.

Emirates chauffeur drive is complimentary for First Class passengers and for Business Class passengers on Saver, Flex and Flex Plus fares, on flights Emirates operates. In Dubai there’s no mileage limit anywhere in the UAE. You book it at least 10 hours before your flight, and when you land at Terminal 3 you check in at the Chauffeur-drive desk in the arrivals hall.
It’s one of the best perks in the business, and when it fits your trip, use it. The trouble starts when it doesn’t fit: the wrong fare, too many people, a stop on the way, or a driver who can only wait 15 minutes. That’s usually when a private airport transfer in Dubai fills the gap. We’ve set out the current rules from Emirates’ own terms (checked September 2026), then the situations where you’ll need something else.
Who qualifies for Emirates chauffeur drive?
Emirates’ Chauffeur-drive terms say the service is for passengers “travelling on Emirates-operated flights with confirmed reservations in First Class, and in Business Class with a Saver, Flex or Flex Plus fare.” The booking must be ticketed; waitlisted passengers don’t qualify.
| Your ticket | Chauffeur-drive included? |
|---|---|
| First Class, Emirates-operated flight | Yes |
| Business Class, Saver, Flex or Flex Plus fare | Yes |
| Business Class, Special fare (the entry-level Business fare) | No, it isn’t on Emirates’ eligible list |
| Premium Economy or Economy | No |
| Skywards Classic Rewards in Business or First (booked since 1 March 2019) | No |
| Upgrade from Economy to Business, paid with miles or complimentary | No |
| Complimentary tickets | No |
| Codeshare where Emirates only markets the flight | No |
| First or Business ticket issued by another airline | No, except Air Mauritius, Hahn Air and Etihad Airways |
| Booked through Qantas (since 1 May 2022) | No |
Two more conditions trip people up. The service isn’t offered in a city where you’re only in transit, meaning less than 24 hours between connecting flights. And it’s one adult per car: passengers 18 and over can travel alone, while 12 to 17 year olds must be with a parent or legal guardian.
How far will Emirates chauffeur drive you in Dubai?
Anywhere in the UAE. Emirates’ Chauffeur-drive city data for Dubai reads “No mileage restriction within the United Arab Emirates.” Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are all inside the complimentary distance from Dubai International. Crossing a national border isn’t covered.
The Dubai-specific rules, from the same Emirates data:
- Sedan capacity. A maximum of four passengers in a sedan, and only if the fourth is a child under 14 (one adult in front, two adults and a child in the back).
- MPV capacity. Up to seven passengers in an MPV, one in front and six behind.
- Bigger cars. Larger vehicles can be booked subject to availability. Emirates’ booking conditions say extra charges apply for a larger vehicle or a child seat.
- Departure pickups. Pickup for a departure from Dubai is 2 hours 30 minutes before the flight, with some exceptions.
- No terminal hops. Chauffeur-drive doesn’t run between terminals or between airports, so it won’t take you from DXB to DWC.
The cars, per Emirates’ Chauffeur-drive page: a BMW 7 Series for First Class and a BMW 5 Series Touring for Business Class, to and from Dubai International. Models are subject to availability.
How to book Emirates chauffeur drive
- Add it to your booking. Do it when you buy the ticket, or later through Manage Your Booking on emirates.com or the Emirates app.
- Book at least 10 hours before your flight. That’s Emirates’ minimum notice.
- Enter the full address. Emirates’ website won’t check whether an address is inside the complimentary distance. In Dubai that’s not an issue; abroad, check the city’s limit first.
- Know your departure pickup time. From Dubai it’s 2 hours 30 minutes before departure unless Emirates tells you otherwise.
- Be ready on time. Emirates’ terms say the driver waits a maximum of 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup, then is released to the next job.
- On arrival, go to the Chauffeur-drive desk. Emirates tells arriving passengers to check in with their driver at the Chauffeur-drive desks. Emirates’ Terminal 3 arrivals map shows the First and Business Class Chauffeur-drive desk near Exit 4. Our Terminal 3 arrivals guide walks through the hall.
What if you don’t qualify, or need something Emirates doesn’t do?
The table covers the common cases where Chauffeur-drive falls short.
| Situation | Emirates Chauffeur-drive | What we’d book instead |
|---|---|---|
| Economy, Premium Economy or Business Special fare | Not included | A fixed-price sedan or SUV transfer with meet and greet |
| Classic Rewards seat or an upgrade into Business | Not included | Same as above |
| Five or more people, or a family with lots of luggage | Sedan up to four (with a child), MPV up to seven, bigger cars subject to availability and charges | A luxury SUV or Mercedes V-Class |
| You need longer than 15 minutes at pickup | Driver released after 15 minutes | Flight-tracked airport pickup with 45 to 60 minutes of free waiting |
| A stop on the way (office, second hotel, collecting a colleague) | One pickup and one drop-off | A multi-stop transfer, or hourly hire from 3 hours |
| DXB to DWC, or between terminals | Not available | A direct transfer with your bags |
| Only one traveller is in Business | One car for that adult | A second car, or one larger car for everyone |
| You want a specific car | Models subject to availability | Choose the class: Mercedes S-Class, Rolls-Royce, SUV |
Our prices already include parking, Salik tolls and VAT, with no surge pricing and no night surcharge. The rate table on our airport transfer page shows the fixed prices by car class.
Using Emirates Chauffeur-drive and a private car together
You don’t have to choose one. Combinations that work well:
- Emirates for the traveller, a van for the luggage. A Business Class passenger rides in the Emirates car; exhibition kit or golf bags follow in a van.
- Emirates to the hotel, a chauffeur for the week. The airline covers the airport run, and a corporate chauffeur covers meetings by the hour.
- Emirates plus fast-track. Chauffeur-drive doesn’t include immigration help. Our comparison of Marhaba and private meet and greet explains how the airside part works.
Flying Etihad instead? Its rules are different, and more restrictive on luggage. See our Etihad chauffeur service guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is Emirates chauffeur service free?
Yes, for eligible passengers: First Class, and Business Class on Saver, Flex or Flex Plus fares, on Emirates-operated flights. There’s no charge within the complimentary distance, and in Dubai that covers the whole UAE. Emirates charges extra for a larger vehicle or a child seat, and it isn’t included with Classic Rewards seats or upgrades.
Does Emirates Business Class include chauffeur drive?
Most Business Class fares do. Emirates’ terms name Business Saver, Flex and Flex Plus as eligible. The entry-level Business Special fare isn’t on that list, and neither are Skywards Classic Rewards seats or upgrades from Economy. Check your fare type in Manage Your Booking before you plan around it.
How far in advance should I book Emirates chauffeur drive?
At least 10 hours before your flight. You can add it when you book the ticket or later through Manage Your Booking on emirates.com or the Emirates app. For departures from Dubai, expect a pickup 2 hours 30 minutes before the flight, and be ready: the driver waits a maximum of 15 minutes.
Can the Emirates chauffeur take me to Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Emirates’ city data for Dubai says there’s no mileage restriction within the UAE, so an eligible passenger can be driven from Dubai International to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or the northern emirates. The service doesn’t cross national borders and doesn’t run between airports, so DXB to Zayed International isn’t possible.
How long will the Emirates chauffeur wait?
Emirates’ terms say drivers wait a maximum of 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup time, after which they’re released to their next job. On arrival you check in at the Chauffeur-drive desk in the Terminal 3 arrivals hall. If you need more flexibility, a private transfer with flight tracking and 45 to 60 minutes of free waiting is the safer option.
