The Dubai World Cup 2027 is on Saturday 27 March 2027 at Meydan Racecourse in Nad Al Sheba, about 10 km from Downtown Dubai. In 2026, public gates opened at noon, the first race ran at 3:45pm and the World Cup itself went off at 8:45pm. Dress smart (no denim, shorts or trainers) and pre-book your ride home.
Dubai Racing Club calls World Cup night the world’s most spectacular race day, and it’s one of the dressiest nights of the year in the UAE. We plan event limousine service for racegoers every March, and this guide covers what you need for the transport side: timings, gates, the dress code your whole group must meet, and how to leave Meydan without a long wait.
When is the Dubai World Cup 2027?
The Dubai Racing Club race calendar marks Saturday 27 March 2027 as Dubai World Cup day at Meydan. The meeting is held on a Saturday in late March or early April and closes the Meydan season, which runs from November.
The 2026 meeting, the 30th running, was on Saturday 28 March 2026 with US$30.5 million in prize money across nine races. The 2027 race-day schedule will be published nearer the date. Until then, the 2026 timings are the best planning guide.
| Time (2026) | What happened | Transport note |
|---|---|---|
| 12:00pm | Public gates open (Gate 1) | Early arrivals beat the queues |
| 1:00pm | Hospitality gates open (Gates 2, 3, 4 and 5) | Hospitality guests can arrive from here |
| 3:45pm | Race 1 | Aim to be seated before this |
| 8:45pm | Dubai World Cup (Race 9) | The main event |
| 9:10pm | The UAE Tribute | Closing moment of the night |
| After 9:15pm | Crowd leaves | Peak exit; pickups need a plan |
Gulfood runs across Dubai the week before (15–19 March 2027), so hotels and cars are busy all fortnight. Our Gulfood transport guide and the full Dubai events calendar cover the rest of the season.
What is the dress code for the Dubai World Cup?
The dress code applies to everyone entering the Meydan Grandstand, and security checks it at the gates. Dubai Racing Club’s 2026 guide booklet sets it out:
- Ladies (including girls 12 and over): smart attire or national dress, with hats encouraged. Dresses and skirts of modest length, falling just above the knee or longer.
- Gentlemen (including boys 12 and over): smart attire or national dress.
- Not permitted in the Grandstand: shorts, sportswear of any type, torn or ripped clothing (even designer), open-neck t-shirts and tank tops, trainers or flip-flops, and denim of any kind.
- Children under 12: neatly dressed and with an adult holding a valid ticket.
Dubai Racing Club reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone considered inappropriately dressed, and the person who booked the tickets is responsible for their guests. We mention this for transport reasons: if one person in the car is turned away at the gate, the whole group’s plan changes. Check outfits before you leave the hotel.
How do you get to Meydan Racecourse?
Meydan’s official plan-your-day page describes it as 10 km from Downtown Dubai, a 10-minute drive from Dubai World Trade Centre and about 20 minutes from Mall of the Emirates, with ample on-site parking. The address is Al Meydan Road, Nad Al Sheba. There’s no metro station close to the racecourse.
| Option | How it works | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeur | Hotel to your gate, same car home | Couples, groups, hospitality guests | Book early; March is busy |
| Self-drive | Park on site | Residents who won’t drink | Car parks empty slowly after the last race |
| Taxi or ride-hailing | App or rank | One-way trips there | Long waits and surge at 9:30pm |
| Helicopter | Arranged through the Dubai Racing Club office | VIP arrivals | Needs advance arrangement with the club |
Drive times on race day are longer than those official figures in the hour before the first race and after the last. From Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah, allow more time than from Downtown or DIFC.
Drop-off and pickup at Meydan: which gate?
Your ticket names your gate, and that’s where your car should drop you. The 2026 booklet asked guests to follow the information on their ticket to their gate, collect a wristband there, and pass a security check immediately inside. General public ticket holders entering through Gate 1 didn’t need to print tickets. The Ticket Sales Office sits opposite Gate 2, and the Kids’ Zone in the Paddock Garden is easiest from Gates 3 and 4.
How we run it:
- Before the day, send us the gate on your ticket. Hospitality guests are usually on Gates 2 to 5; public tickets on Gate 1.
- On arrival, the chauffeur drops you as close to your gate as traffic marshals allow, then parks on site.
- During the races, he waits in the car park. You don’t need to tell him your plans hour by hour, only when you’re leaving.
- At the end, message him 15 minutes before you walk out. We fix a pickup point near your gate on the way in, so you know exactly where to go.
For a special arrival, a Rolls-Royce with chauffeur or a first-class sedan photographs well against the grandstand. Tell us about any drop-off timing for photos and we’ll plan around the gate queues.
How do you leave Meydan on World Cup night?
This is where evenings go wrong. The main race runs at 8:45pm, the UAE Tribute follows, and then most of the grandstand leaves together. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are under the most pressure in that window.
Three approaches work:
- Leave straight after the World Cup race. You miss the closing moments but beat the car park exit.
- Stay late. Information booths stayed open until 10pm in 2026. Leaving after the first wave clears is calmer than joining it.
- Keep a pre-booked car on hourly hire. The car is in the car park all day, the chauffeur knows your gate, and there’s no queue for you to join.
Planning a group day at the Dubai World Cup
- Book cars when you book tickets. Dubai World Cup is a single Saturday, and large cars for groups are in demand that afternoon.
- Match the car to the outfits. Long dresses and hats travel better in an SUV or a first-class sedan than a compact car. A Mercedes S-Class with chauffeur seats three in the back; a large SUV or V-Class takes six.
- Use hourly hire. From early afternoon to after 10pm is a long day; hourly hire has a 3-hour minimum and covers the waiting.
- Plan the after-party. If your evening continues in Downtown or DIFC, tell us so the same car takes you on.
