Expand North Star 2026 runs 8–10 December 2026 at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) in Expo City Dubai, alongside GITEX Global. It’s no longer at Dubai Harbour. Reach it by Red Line metro to Expo 2020 station or by car via Expo Road (E77), and plan the evening trip back to the city before you plan the morning.

That move changes everything for anyone who did North Star in past years. We plan exhibition and conference transport for investor and founder groups, and this guide is about the startup show specifically: who needs a car, who doesn’t, and how to cover the side-event nights from a venue in Dubai South.

Expand North Star 2026: dates, venue and what moved

The Expand North Star website lists 8–10 December 2026 and describes the show as “reunited with GITEX Global, now at Expo City Dubai”. The GITEX Global 2026 page puts the wider GITEX Expo at DEC from 8 to 11 December, after a one-day GITEX Summit at Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday 7 December.

Dubai Chambers’ announcement of the 2025 edition confirms the last Dubai Harbour show, organised by Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Two things are new for 2026: the month (December, not October) and the location, about as far from Dubai Harbour as an event venue in Dubai can be.

Daily opening hours for 2026 hadn’t been published when we wrote this. Your pass confirmation will have them.

Is Expand North Star the same as GITEX?

Same venue, same week, different show. Expand North Star is the startup and investor event: founder pods, the Investor Programme and the Supernova pitch stage, where 60 startups pitch live in 2026. GITEX Global is the wider technology exhibition and runs one day longer.

For transport the overlap matters. Both crowds use the same Arrivals Plaza, metro station and car parks, and investors often walk between the two shows on the same day. If your team also has GITEX Summit meetings at DWTC on 7 December, read our GITEX Global transport guide for that day and the halls. This page covers 8–10 December from the startup side.

Founders and investors have different transport problems

Founders spend the day on a pod or at a pitch slot and can’t leave. The Founder’s Pass is a single day on the show floor, so a lot of founders are in and out once. They need a reliable morning arrival with kit (roll-up banners, demo screens) and a way home after a long day. Budget matters.

Investors do the opposite. They book back-to-back meetings, leave the hall for a lunch in DIFC, come back for a pitch session and finish at a dinner on the other side of the city. Their car isn’t a transfer. It’s a mobile office that waits.

So our advice splits:

Getting to Dubai Exhibition Centre

Expo City is in Dubai South, near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Expo City Dubai puts the drive at around 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai and around 15 minutes from DWC, and that’s before show traffic. Hotels in Dubai Marina, JLT and Jebel Ali sit closer to Expo City than Downtown does; Deira and the Creek are the long runs.

All three show days fall Tuesday to Thursday, when RTA runs the metro 5am to midnight. Our Expo City Dubai guide has the full detail on the station, car parks and entrances.

Where the car waits

Your chauffeur drops you at the drop-off point signed for the show near the Arrivals Plaza, then parks in a visitor car park or marshalled holding area. Message him 15 minutes before you walk out. For an investor on hourly hire, we keep the car within a few minutes of the plaza so a lunch in the city doesn’t eat an hour of the afternoon.

The evenings: plan the night before the morning

North Star’s evening programme has always been half the event. In 2025, the NorthStar by Night listings ran from Dubai Harbour and The Deck to sunset sails in Dubai Marina, beach clubs on the Palm and Marina, and meetups at Emirates Towers and DWTC. The 2026 night programme hadn’t been published when we wrote this, but expect the same spread across the city, with the show itself now 30-plus minutes away.

What we’ve learned from show weeks like this:

  1. Leave Expo City before the halls empty or well after. The first hour after closing is when metro, taxis and private cars all converge on E77.
  2. Change at the hotel, not in the car. If there’s a dinner at 8pm in Dubai Harbour, a hotel stop on the way saves you arriving in show clothes with a lanyard on.
  3. Book late returns now. Taxi queues get long late on event nights. A fixed late pickup avoids standing on a kerb at 1am.
  4. Use hourly hire for multi-stop nights. Two receptions and a dinner in three parts of the city cost less in time with one car that waits than with three app bookings.

December is also busy before the show starts. UAE National Day is on 2 December and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs 3–6 December, so many investors fly in for both weeks. Our Dubai events calendar lays out the season.

For investors and fund partners who want a first-class car for the week, our corporate chauffeur service handles VAT invoices and monthly invoicing for company accounts. Our all-inclusive price covers the chauffeur, fuel, Salik tolls, parking and VAT, with no surge pricing at closing time.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Expand North Star happening in 2026?

At Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) in Expo City Dubai, 8–10 December 2026, alongside GITEX Global. It’s the first edition at Expo City; earlier editions, including 2023 and 2025, were at Dubai Harbour. The nearest metro station is Expo 2020 on the Red Line, which connects to DEC.

When is Expand North Star 2027?

The organiser hasn’t announced 2027 dates or a venue yet. Expand North Star has run alongside GITEX Global every year, in October up to 2025 and in December for 2026, so watch the GITEX announcement. We’ll update this page when the dates are published.

Is Expand North Star still at Dubai Harbour?

No. The 2025 edition, 12–15 October, was the last one at Dubai Harbour. For 2026 the show has moved to Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai, in Dubai South near Al Maktoum International Airport, so plan for a longer drive from the Marina and Downtown.

How do I get to Expand North Star by metro?

Take the Red Line towards Expo 2020 and get off at Expo 2020 station, the last stop on that branch. Check the platform screen first: trains towards Life Pharmacy don’t go to Expo City. The station connects directly to Dubai Exhibition Centre, and on show days Tuesday to Thursday trains run from 5am to midnight.

Is parking free at Expo City for Expand North Star?

Expo City Dubai says visitor parking is free, and DEC lists more than 2,300 bays across zones P1 to P5 with shuttle buses to the Arrivals Plaza. Show organisers can change parking arrangements for big events, so check your pass confirmation before the first day.
