GITEX Global 2026 runs 7–11 December 2026. The one-day GITEX Summit opens on Monday 7 December at Dubai World Trade Centre, and the GITEX Global Expo runs Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 December at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) in Expo City Dubai. Reach DEC by Red Line metro to Expo 2020 station, by car via Expo Road (E77), or by pre-booked chauffeur.
This is the first GITEX held in December and the first with its expo halls at Expo City, so older plans built around October and Sheikh Zayed Road no longer work. We plan exhibition and conference transport for delegations every show season; below is how we’d plan GITEX week, from the venue split to where your car waits.
When and where is GITEX Global 2026?
The dates and venues come from the organiser and the two venues. GITEX lists 7–11 December 2026, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre GITEX page lists the expo on 8–11 December in its North and South Halls. Dubai World Trade Centre lists the one-day summit in its Sheikh Maktoum Hall as a trade-only event.
| Day | Date | Part of GITEX | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 7 Dec 2026 | GITEX Summit | Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Maktoum Hall |
| Tuesday–Friday | 8–11 Dec 2026 | GITEX Global Expo | Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai (North and South Halls) |
DWTC says the 2026 edition expects more than 200,000 technology executives and 6,800 exhibitors from over 180 countries. Daily opening hours hadn’t been published when we wrote this, so check your badge email before fixing pickup times.
GITEX week also follows straight on from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (3–6 December). If you’re flying in for both, see our Abu Dhabi Grand Prix transport guide and our full Dubai events calendar.
How do you get to GITEX at Expo City: car, metro or taxi?
Expo City sits in Dubai South, far from the hotel clusters in Downtown, DIFC and Business Bay. Expo City Dubai puts the drive at around 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai and around 15 minutes from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Plan on more during show-hour peaks.
| Option | How it works | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeur | Door-to-door from your hotel to the DEC drop-off, car waits nearby | Executives, teams with meetings off-site | Book the return legs as well as the mornings |
| Dubai Metro | Red Line to Expo 2020 station, the station at the heart of Expo City | Solo visitors staying near the Red Line | Crowded at opening and closing time |
| Taxi or ride-hailing | Book in the app, drop at the venue | One-off visits | Long waits and surge when halls close |
| Self-drive | Expo Road (E77) off Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) or Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street (D54) | Locals who know the area | Parking and shuttle time to the halls |
By metro
The Red Line runs to Expo 2020 station on the branch built as Route 2020. DEC says trains arrive every 3–4 minutes and the station connects directly to the venue. RTA’s standard hours are 5am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 5am to 1am on Friday, and 8am to midnight on Sunday, so trains run until 1am after the last expo day on Friday 11 December. There’s also an RTA bus stop outside Expo 2020 station.
By car
Expo City is on Expo Road (E77), which connects to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street (D54). Expo City Dubai says parking is free for visitors. DEC lists more than 2,300 visitor bays in five zones (P1 to P5), with scheduled shuttle buses to the Arrivals Plaza, which is the main entrance to the North and South Halls.
For the mega-shows earlier in 2026, DWTC and RTA ran an express shuttle network between DWTC and DEC, park-and-ride at e&, Centrepoint, National Paints and Al Kifaf metro stations, and continuous shuttles between the Expo City car parks and the halls. GITEX hadn’t published its own 2026 traffic plan when we wrote this, so treat those as the model to expect, not a promise.
Drop-off, pickup and where chauffeurs wait at DEC
Chauffeured cars use the drop-off area signed for the show. Drop-off lanes at big shows are for stopping, not waiting, so this is how we run it:
- Morning drop-off. The car takes you to the drop-off point signed for GITEX near the Arrivals Plaza. You walk straight in.
- Waiting. The chauffeur parks in the visitor car parks or a holding area as directed by traffic marshals on the day. He keeps his phone on and stays within a short drive.
- Midday moves. If you have a lunch off-site, message him 15 minutes before you walk out. He comes back to the same drop-off point.
- Evening pickup. At closing time, everyone leaves at once. We agree a named pickup point in the morning and the car is in position before the halls empty.
DEC is still expanding. Phase 2 construction continues through 2026 while the venue stays open, and DWTC’s plans include a new Eastern Access Road and multi-storey parking. Signage and drop-off locations can shift between shows, so we check the layout at the start of each event.
Traffic windows to avoid during GITEX week
GITEX falls in the first full week of December, days after UAE National Day (2 December) and straight after the Grand Prix weekend. Our advice for the four expo days:
- Arrive early, leave early or leave late. The worst windows are the half hour before the halls open and the hour after they close, when metro, taxis and private cars all converge on the same roads.
- Keep Sheikh Zayed Road out of your evening plan. If you have a dinner in DIFC or Downtown after the show, leave Expo City before the evening peak or push the reservation later.
- Choose your hotel for the Expo days. Four days at Expo City outweigh one Summit day at DWTC, and a long morning drive four days running adds up.
- Friday 11 December is the last day. Exhibitors pack down that evening, so expect trucks and marshals around the loading areas.
Our Dubai rush hour guide covers the normal daily peaks that sit under all of this.
How to plan multi-day GITEX transport for a delegation
The planning steps are the same as for any big show. The difference in 2026 is the distance.
- Split the Summit day from the Expo days. 7 December is a DWTC day; our Dubai World Trade Centre parking guide covers Sheikh Maktoum Hall, Convention Gate and the Exhibitions Street car park.
- Count seats, then choose cars. One or two people per business sedan. A team of up to six fits one V-Class with chauffeur, which keeps everyone arriving together.
- Decide on hourly or fixed transfers. Hourly hire keeps a car at Expo City all day for off-site meetings. Fixed morning and evening transfers suit teams who stay on the stand.
- Send the daily run-sheet. Names, hotels, pickup times, meeting addresses and flight details for departures after the show.
- Plan departures. If you fly out on 11 or 12 December, remember that DXB, DWC and your hotel are three different directions from Expo City.
If you’re moving a large team, see our Expo City transport page for event-week bookings.
