The FEI Endurance World Championship 2026 is a 160 km ride on Saturday 19 December 2026 at Butheeb International Endurance Village in Al Khatim, in the desert inland from Abu Dhabi city. It moved there from AlUla in Saudi Arabia in July. For owners, officials and guests, the plan is simple: sleep in Abu Dhabi the night before and keep one car with you all day.
Endurance is a long sport for the people watching too. The ride starts early and the vet gates keep teams busy for hours, so the car isn’t a drop-off; it’s base camp. We run the Dubai to Abu Dhabi chauffeur transfer daily and plan Abu Dhabi desert venues as day hires, which is what this championship needs.
When and where is the 2026 Endurance World Championship?
The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation’s endurance calendar lists the FEI Endurance World Championship for Seniors 2026, 160 km, at Butheeb on 19 December 2026. The US Equestrian championship page, which sets out team selection, gives the same date and location.
| What | Date | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Test event (CEI3* 160 km) | Sunday 15 November 2026 | Butheeb, Abu Dhabi |
| Championship period | 14–20 December 2026, as reported by Gulf News when the FEI confirmed the move | Butheeb International Endurance Village, Al Khatim |
| Championship ride (160 km) | Saturday 19 December 2026 | Butheeb International Endurance Village, Al Khatim |
The championship was first allocated to AlUla in Saudi Arabia for November. After AlUla withdrew, the FEI confirmed Butheeb in late July 2026, and US Equestrian updated its selection document on 29 July to show the new date and location. It’s the venue’s second World Championship: Butheeb also staged the 2022 edition, which was ridden in February 2023.
This is a one-off for Abu Dhabi. FEI World Championships rotate between countries, and there’s no Butheeb date for 2027 or 2028. The UAE’s regular endurance season runs on through the winter at Butheeb and the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba. Our Dubai events calendar covers the rest of the season.
Where is Butheeb Endurance Village?
Al Khatim sits inland in Abu Dhabi emirate, between Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain, well away from the coast and the hotel districts. You’ll see the name spelt Butheeb, Boudheib and Bou Theib; they’re the same place. It’s a purpose-built endurance venue, and there’s no public transport to it worth planning around. Everyone arrives by car, bus or horse lorry.
Two practical points follow:
- Your phone’s map may route you oddly. With several spellings in use, send the chauffeur the exact pin or gate from your accreditation pack, not a typed name.
- Distances are long both ways. It’s a desert run from Abu Dhabi city and a longer one from Dubai. We’ll give you a firm pickup time after a route check once the organiser publishes the access plan; until then, assume a pre-dawn start from Dubai on ride day.
Who goes, and what they need from a car
An endurance World Championship brings national teams, their owners and chefs d’équipe, FEI officials and vets, media, and invited guests. Crewing teams work the vet gates and crew points with their own team vehicles and permits; that’s organised through the team, not a chauffeur company.
Where we come in is everyone around the horses:
| Passenger | What they need | Car we’d suggest |
|---|---|---|
| Owner or VIP guest | A car that stays all day, with shade and water while they watch | First-class sedan or luxury SUV: GMC Yukon Denali, Lexus LX 600 or Nissan Patrol Platinum |
| Chef d’équipe or team staff | Early arrival, late departure, kit in the back | SUV or Mercedes V-Class |
| National team support group, 6–12 | One pickup from the hotel, one drop at the village | Van with driver |
| Officials and media arriving at AUH | Airport to Abu Dhabi hotel, then daily loops | Business sedan via our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi |
An SUV earns its place here. Desert venues mean dust, long waits with the engine running for air conditioning, and passengers going in and out of the car all day. Hourly hire has a 3-hour minimum, but for ride day you want a full-day booking.
How we’d plan ride day
- Stay in Abu Dhabi on 18 December. It shortens the pre-dawn drive and takes the Dubai end out of the day.
- Collect accreditation details first. Vehicle passes, parking zones and gate numbers come from the organiser. Send them to us with the booking so the chauffeur knows which gate to use.
- Pick a waiting plan. Either the car waits in the designated parking all day, or it drops you and returns at an agreed time. Waiting all day is easier, because finish times depend on how the ride unfolds.
- Plan the evening separately. Prize-giving and team dinners often end late, and the drive back to Dubai after a 160 km day is not the moment to look for a taxi.
Published Dubai rate cards (September 2026) put a large SUV with driver at AED 1,300–2,000 for a full day, with many operators adding AED 125–200 when a car leaves Dubai. Our all-inclusive price covers the chauffeur, fuel, tolls and VAT.
What else is on that December week?
The championship lands in a busy month, though the worst clashes are earlier. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs 3–6 December at Yas Marina, and GITEX Global follows in Dubai from 7 to 11 December, so by 14 December the biggest crowds of the month have gone.
After the championship, Dubai fills up again for the last week of the year: the World Sports Summit is on 28–29 December, then New Year’s Eve. If your team is staying on for the holidays, book those cars at the same time as the championship ones.
Frequently asked questions
When is the FEI Endurance World Championship 2026?
The 160 km championship ride is on Saturday 19 December 2026. Gulf News reported the championship period as 14–20 December when the FEI confirmed the move. A CEI3* 160 km test event is listed at the same venue on 15 November 2026.
Where is the 2026 FEI Endurance World Championship held?
At Butheeb International Endurance Village in Al Khatim, Abu Dhabi emirate, inland between Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain. The venue also hosted the 2022 FEI Endurance World Championship, which was held in February 2023.
Why did the Endurance World Championship move from AlUla?
AlUla in Saudi Arabia was the original host for November 2026 and withdrew in mid-2026. The FEI then confirmed Butheeb, Abu Dhabi, as the new venue in late July, with the ride set for 19 December.
How do I get to Butheeb Endurance Village from Dubai?
By car; there’s no useful public transport. It’s a long desert drive, so we recommend staying in Abu Dhabi the night before ride day and keeping one car with you all day. Use the exact gate or map pin from your accreditation pack, since the venue appears under several spellings.
Can spectators attend the FEI Endurance World Championship?
The organiser hadn’t published spectator arrangements as of mid-October 2026. Owners, teams, officials and accredited guests get access through their federation or the organising committee. Check the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and FEI announcements closer to December.
